The Fall Educator Summit is a two-day professional development event designed for Wyoming’s high school hospitality and culinary instructors, including those teaching the ProStart curriculum. Held in Riverton, this summit features hands-on training, classroom-ready resources, and behind-the-scenes industry tours. Educators will engage in interactive sessions focused on best practices, student engagement, and ProStart competition readiness both at the state and national levels. The Summit also provides time for peer collaboration, curriculum updates, and networking with industry partners, all aimed at strengthening hospitality education across the state and inspiring the next generation of culinary and management professionals.

Welcome & Program Overview

Kick off the summit with greeting from WHTC Education Foundation Leadership. Attendees will get an overview of the sessions, resources, and opportunities for professional growth during the two-day program.

Competition Prep: Best Practices & How to Achieve the Best

Learn proven strategies from veteran educators, coaches, and judges on how to elevate your students performance at competitions. We'll cover team dynamics, time management, and simple practices that lead to consistent success.

Wyoming ProStart Update

Stay up to date with statewide ProStart initiatives including data collection process, national site login, and important program updates. This session is ensures your're ready to meet requirements and maximize opportunities for your students.

State Competition Update

Get a detailed overview of the upcoming Wyoming ProStart Invitational, including rulebook highlights, deadlines, and logistical details. This session provides clarity on requirements and how to best prepart your teams.

Classroom to Competition

Discover practical ways to turn classroom lessons into competition-ready skills. Educators will learn how to aling curriculum with competition categories and build confidence in students who are new to competitive environments.

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

An informational block where educators can connect directly with coaches, judges, and staff to ask questions, clarify rules and discuss individual challenges.

Evening Social & Networking Event

Relax and connect with fellow educators and industry leaders. This casual evening gathering is designed to build relationships and foster collaboration across Wyoming's hospitality education network.

Site Tour 

Take an inside look at one of Wyoming's leading seasoning producers. Learn about industry practices, food safety standards, and potential career pathways your students can explore through local partnerships. 

10:15 am - 11:15 am

Foundation 3 Curriculum Update

Explore the latest updates in the Foundation 2 curriculum and how to integrate new content into your classrooms. This session hightlights teaching resources, alignment with CTE goals, and tips for easing the transition.

Cake Decorating Techniques & Competition

Lunch

A Workshop and friendly competition to sharpen cake decorating skills. Discover practical techniques you can bring back to your students and see first hand how pastry elements can inspire creativity.

Charcuterie Board Competition

Engage in fun, hands-on competiiton that doubles as a teaching tool. Educators will learn how to adapt charcuterie lessons for classroom and explore ways to foster student creativity through visual presentation and technique.

Industry Trends & Culinary Innovation for Educators

Stay current with what's happening in the hospitality industry. From culinary innovation to sustainability, this session highlights trends you can bring into your classroom to better prepare students for today's workforce.

Capstone Project: Structure, Rubrics & Evaluation

3:45 pm - 4:15 pm

Capstone projects give students real-world experiences and resume-ready skills. Learn how to structure projects, design effective rubrics, and fairly evaluate student outcomes.

Reflect on key insights and celebrate the collective work of Wyoming's ProStart educators. Walk away with actionalable tools and resources to strengthen your classroom and competition preparation.
